There’s a new league in town

The hoisting of the Lombardi trophy marked the end of football season... or so we thought. There’s a new league arising and its name is XFL Football. Yes, this is the same XFL that was originally pushed for in 2001. If you throw away all the NFL rules that you’ve become acclimated to and imagine a football league that spends more time actually playing football, then you’ve already grasped the concept of the XFL.

Among other changes, the XFL features gameplay innovations like the allowance of the double-forward pass and a 25 second play clock. The XFL describes their rule changes as “less stall, more ball”, which means that their games will be fast paced and with fewer play stoppages.

Many people are unaware of XFL Football and those who do know about it are wondering why it is necessary. The league was launched simply for the love of football. The games will not interfere with the NFL in any way, so football fans are able to witness the ups and downs of a 17 week NFL season and also be able to tune in to XFL games, which begin after the Super Bowl.

Here is the easiest way to sum up XFL Football: It’s a chance for fans experience more football while also tweaking the rules that always seem to interrupt a good game. XFL Football is taking the game that we love to the next level, but they are doing it on a smaller scale. Tomorrow’s introduction of a new football league could go up in flames, but there is always a chance that it could change the game for the better.

Question: Have you heard of the XFL? If so, what are your thoughts on it? Let me know in the comments what you think.
