In Memory of a Legend

“Good players win races. Great ones break records. Legends change the game.” As shock and disbelief cloud the hearts of people all around the world, we must take the time to reflect on Kobe Bryant’s career.

Hall of Famer. Olympic Gold Medalist. Laker. Husband. Father. Mamba. LEGEND. These are the first words that come to mind when thinking of Kobe.

Kobe Bryant spent his entire 20 year career as a Los Angeles Laker. He played in seven NBA Finals and helped his team win five championships. Kobe stamped his name in multiple record books and just last night, offered his congratulations to LeBron James for taking his place as the 3rd leading scorer of all time.

Writing about Kobe is difficult for me because I missed most of his career. He was just a few years from retirement when I began watching professional basketball. One thing I’ve learned just by simply watching how athletes from all sports respond to him is the pure respect everyone shows to Kobe. Everyone loves Mamba. Everyone respects Mamba.

As a sports fan, I am truly grateful for Kobe Bryant and his amazing career. For every game. For every play. For every word of wisdom. “Heroes come and go, but legends are forever” - Kobe Bryant.
