Hurts, Don’t It?
The Philadelphia Eagles looked a bit different in last Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints. They looked like a good football team! That's because Philly’s rookie QB was finally allowed to take the reigns and start his first career NFL game. He goes by the name of Jalen Hurts. You’ve probably heard of him.
Prior to this game, the Saints had a nine game win streak and they did not expect it to be snapped against the Eagles. It was surprising to see the Saints get shut out in the first half of the game, which is uncharacteristic for a high powered offense. Although the Saints have made a QB change of their own, naming Taysom Hill the starter until Drew Brees returns, their offense hadn’t missed a beat until last Sunday.
Many Eagles fans as well as other athletes took to social media months ago to voice their opinion on the Eagles QB situation. For the most part, people were calling for a quarterback change due to Carson Wentz’s struggles. When the Eagles decided to make the switch for Week 14, they saw a big difference… in everything.
Jalen Hurts and the Eagles looked to stay in the win column against Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. While Hurts did put up some pretty impressive numbers, the Eagles fell short of a victory. In his postgame interview, Hurts said that he “hates losing more than I love winning.” Now that is a quarterback that I would want my team to rally around.
