Best in the West
The Western Conference has changed so much in the past year alone. The Lakers have the best record in the conference. The Warriors have the worst record in the league. Like I said, a LOT has changed. That’s why it’s important to discuss the top 8 teams in the West before they get a chance to change again. Here they are:
Lake Show or LeBron Show?
LeBron James and Anthony Davis are making history as the dynamic duo in Los Angeles, but the Lakers organization doesn’t believe that their team is complete. Although they’re in a great position to get them deep into the playoffs, they are currently looking to sign another shooter to the team.
Kawhi’s Clippers
The Lakers aren’t the only ones making noise in LA. The Clippers are currently 5 games behind the top-seeded Lakers. With players like Lou Williams, Paul George, Patrick Beverly, and Montrezl Harrell surrounding Kawhi, the Clippers are giving the Lakers a run for their money. They may even see them in the Western Conference Finals.
Nikola’s Nuggets
Key players such as Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray are the main reason why the Denver Nuggets are in such a great position out West. Although Murray’s injuries have affected the team, he and Jokic are the young stars who carry the Nuggets. Let’s see how well they can carry them into the playoffs.
Houston… Do We Have a Problem?
Although James Harden and Russell Westbrook have both been able to put up great numbers and multiple triple doubles, the Houston Rockets are currently on a two game losing streak and this isn’t the first time that they’ve had problems. It’s been extremely difficult to try to pinpoint the various issues that the Rockets have had since the season began, so let’s just see how they finish out the season.
Jordan’s Jazzy Rise to Stardom
There clearly aren’t many pressing stories or headlines right now with the Utah Jazz. Their biggest break lies with Jordan Clarkson, the “premier bench scorer.” Clarkson seems to have found his rhythm in Utah and he’s contributed greatly to their current 3-game win streak.
Is Shai stealing CP3’s Thunder?
Shai Gilgeous- Alexander is the best thing that the Oklahoma City Thunder have going for them right now. The 21 year old gives his team a much needed offensive boost. He is having a great season and he seems to be emerging as the Thunder’s go-to player. As of right now, Chris Paul’s future in OKC is a huge question, so we’ll see how that plays out.
Disaster in Dallas
Unless something unheard-of happens between now and the beginning of the playoffs, we will see the Dallas Mavericks there. The real question revolves around how many of their players will actually be healthy enough to play. The injuries are piling up, both major and minor. Even the star of the team, Luka Doncic is banged up. It’s a good thing that they don’t have to chase a playoff spot.
The Grizzlies’ Bright Future
Ja Morant… “That’s it. That’s the post.” The rookie from South Carolina has been a sensational asset to the Memphis Grizzlies. He leads the team in points and assists and he’s not letting up anytime soon. He and teammate Jaren Jackson Jr. have the potential to do something very special together in Memphis.
