Lakers Clench Finals in Game 6 Blowout

I had every intention of writing a great article about the Lakers winning the Finals in the Black Mamba jerseys in Game 5. However, Jimmy Butler had other things in mind. Instead, the Lakers were able to close out the series and the 2020 season on Sunday night with a 106-93 win over the Miami Heat.

This was a hard fought win for the Lakers and with the loss of Kobe Bryant, it was a much needed win.

Simply put, it was a prophecy-like ending to an unprecedented season that began over a year ago. Fighting for racial equality while also fighting for the Larry O’Brien trophy could not have been easy, so every NBA fan should be extremely appreciative and proud of each team, no matter who you root for.

It has been a very long season with far too many ups and downs to count. The series between the Heat and Lakers was also a seemingly long one, even though it could have gone one more game. In case you missed something (probably because everyone’s used to only watching football at this time), here are the highlights of this series:

  • LeBron is still LeBron... that should be a given

  • Anthony Davis is great at basketball (and very deserving of his first ring)

  • Jimmy Butler is also great at basketball

  • Some people really dislike Danny Green (well... he should’ve made the shot)

Again, this season has been like no other. This year has been like no other. It has to be very difficult to focus on sports right now, so congratulations to the Los Angeles Lakers on a season well played. They deserve this.
